Directions for Rainbow Faith Crafts
Many denominations within the Christian faith use the rainbow as a religious symbol. The rainbow theme is utilized to make many fun and simple projects for children who attend Sunday school, Bible school and youth groups. Projects made with tissue paper, drawing paper, beads, pipe cleaners and coffee filters are but a few that are inexpensive and easy to make. Each craft uses the colors of the rainbow in order -- red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet -- to create faith-based crafts.

Tissue Paper Rainbow Flowers
-
1
Measure, mark and cut two 12-inch squares of red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet tissue paper. Stack the tissue paper in the order listed and match up all edges.
-
2
Place the stack of rainbow colored tissue paper on a flat, stable work surface. Position the stack so that there is a bottom, top and two sides to the stack.
-
-
3
Fold the bottom edge of the stack of paper up 1 inch and crease the fold firmly. Flip the tissue paper stack over keeping the folded edge along the bottom of the stack. Fold the bottom folded edge up 1 inch and crease the fold firmly. Flip the tissue paper stack over, keeping the folded edge along the bottom edge of the stack. Repeat the folding process until a total of twelve 1-inch folds are complete.
-
4
Hold the folded stack of tissue paper at the center point. Wrap a pipe cleaner around the center of the stack. Twist the end of the pipe cleaner around itself and tight against the fan folded tissue paper. Leave a minimum of a 6-inch stem on the pipe cleaner for placement in a vase or attachment to another item.
-
5
Spread the fan-folded tissue paper on each side of the twisted pipe cleaner. Carefully lift the top layer of tissue paper toward the twisted pipe cleaner in the center of the flower. Repeat the process with each layer.

6
Measure and cut pieces of red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet embroidery floss that are 24-inches long. Make a bundle of the seven colors of embroidery floss, matching both ends. Tie a knot at one end to secure the seven pieces together. Clip the knot under the clip on a clipboard.
-
7
Position the bundle of embroidery floss so that all strands are pointing straight down from the clip.
-
8
Move the red embroidery floss to the outside edge. Take the end of the red embroidery floss and place it across the bundle to create an "L" shape. Position the top leg of the "L" 1 inch away from the bundle of embroidery floss to create a loop at the connecting point of the top leg and bottom leg of the "L" shape. Take the end of the red embroidery floss and place it under the bundle and through the 1-inch loop. Pull the end of the red embroidery floss tight to form an "L" knot just below the clipboard clip. Repeat the process for a total of seven "L" knots.
-
9
Place the red thread in the bundle or embroidery floss. Repeat Step 3 with the orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet embroidery floss in that order until the bracelet is the desired length.
