"The Sims 3" strives to simulate many real-life experiences, such as evicting a roommate from the household. There are many reasons to kick out a roommate in "The Sims 3," much like there are in real life. Some Sims simply do not get along, while others may be in the process of ending their romantic relationship or marriage. When your Sim's children grow up and become young adults, it's time to cut them loose and happily retire. Kicking out a roommate in "The Sims 3" is a clean break with no loss of money or awkward feelings.
Click on your Sim to bring up his cellphone or click on a computer. Select the option "Move Out." This will bring up a screen that allows you to choose which Sims stay in your current home and which ones leave.
Select the Sims you want to kick out and move them to the right column. The left column represents your current household and any Sims listed on the left will stay in the household. Your active Sim will automatically be listed in the right column, so move him over if you do not want him to be kicked out.
Check the box that says "Kick Out" and confirm your selection. The selected Sims will immediately leave the house and take up residence in an available lot.
Tips & Warnings
- Select "Move Out" instead if you want to choose where the evicted Sims will live, if you want to give them money for the move or divide up any furniture.
- If you want to play with the evicted Sim, find out which lot he has moved into and select that house from the town menu.
- If you have the story progression feature turned on, the evicted Sim may choose to leave town completely, which means he will be gone from the game. Turn off story progression before kicking out a Sim to ensure that he stays in town.
