How to Get a Spiky-Eared Pichu
In "Pokemon HeartGold" and "Pokemon SoulSilver," Pichu is small Electric-type Pokemon that resembles a mouse. The Spiky-Eared Pichu is a special creature that varies slightly from the other members of its species. In addition to its jagged ear, this Pichu comes with several attacks that are usually off-limits to its kind. If you want to obtain this rare specimen, you will first need to bring the Pikachu-Colored Pichu, another elusive creature, to the Ilex Forest.

Place the Pikachu-Colored Pichu in your active team as your partner Pokemon. Be sure to bring a Pokemon with Cut, but bring no more than five Pokemon with you.

Travel to the Ilex Forest, which is west of Azalea Town in southern Johto.

Walk to the Ilex Forest Shrine. To reach the shrine, head north from the forest's southern entrance. Use the Cut ability to chop down the bush that is growing in your way. Behind the plant, you will see the shrine. Spiky-Eared Pichu will run from behind the shrine and dance around with your Pikachu-Colored Pichu.

Talk to the old man that appears. He will give you a Cherish Ball to house the Spiky-Eared Pichu.

Walk over to the Spiky-Eared Pichu. It will agree to join your party without resisting.

Tips & Warnings
Spiky-Eared Pichu is a female Pokemon at level 30. It will come equipped with Helping Hand, which is a Normal-type move that boosts attack power in team battles, Volt Tackle, which is an Electric-type attack, Swagger, which confuses the opponent, and Pain Split, which equals out the damage between the user and its target.
Spiky-Eared Pichu will not reveal itself unless it sees the Pikachu-Colored Pichu. You can receive the Pikachu-Colored Pichu from a Nintendo Wi-Fi Event.
After you have the Spiky-Eared Pichu, travel to Professor Elm's laboratory in New Bark Town. Professor Elm will provide you with the Pichu's back-story, explaining how it time traveled with Celebi, a legendary Pokemon.
You cannot trade Spiky-Eared Pichu to another game. In addition, it will never evolve into Pikachu. Most Pichu evolve if their happiness value is at a maximum.
