How to Build BBQ Chicken Racks
A BBQ chicken rack holds your chicken up on a grill and helps avoid getting burns on your chicken from the grill rack. Building your own rack helps you save a little money or helps you personalize your rack for your own grill. Making a BBQ chicken rack requires using tools that only carpenters or metal workers will be likely to already own. You should only make this rack if you understand how to fully and safely handle these tools.
Things You'll Need

1
Put on your safety goggles and gloves before you begin working. This will ensure you don't hurt your hands or your eyes during the building process.
-
2
Cut two 8-inch metal bands with your saw. These bands will support your BBQ chicken rack on the rack of the grill. Set them aside for now.
-
-
3
Cut two 10-inch metal bands and place them in your metal bender. Carefully bend the center of the bands into a circular shape, conforming them to the sides of your can. Keep bending each of the bands until each fits over one-half of your beer can and holds it snugly in place.
-
4
Drill holes on each side of the metal bend using your metal drilling bits. Line up the holes and screw them together around the bottom of the beer can. Make sure that there are at least 2 inches of straight band coming from each side of the curved bands.
-
5
Place your attached curved bands between your 8-inch support bands. Screw the support bands into the curved bands to hold them in place. Place the top of the beer can into the bottom of a chicken to cook it in a grill.
