How to Operate a JVC Code Search Remote

Universal remote controls, such as the ones manufactured by JVC, allow users to control more than one electronic device from a single remote. Users must first program these remotes with a special code. If you do not have access to your JVC remote's code list, you can still program the remote by making use of its "Code Search" feature.

  • Turn on the device you wish to control with your JVC remote.

  • Press and hold the "Code Search" button until the remote's LED lights up, then press the button that represents the device you want to control. For example, if you are trying to control a DVD player, press the "DVD" button. The LED will blink, but remain lit.

  • Press and release the "Power" button on your remote repeatedly until your device shuts off. This may take a long time, as the remote must sift through hundreds of codes.

  • Press the "Enter" button, once the device turns off, to save the remote code. You should now be able to control your device with your JVC remote.
