How to Treat Customers With Respect

Effective customer service representatives show respect to their customers. This not only makes the experience more pleasant for everyone involved, it also could ensure you attract repeat sales. People who use your products or services want to feel safe and secure when interacting with staff. Your ability to meet this desire could effect your gratuity, wage, promotion and sales. As a customer service representative, it is your job to make the process as comfortable as possible for the customer.

  • Greet your customers with a smile and say "Hello" when you see them. Let them know that you are available if they have any questions.

  • Allow them to finish speaking. If they have any questions or comments, let them finish talking before you respond.

  • Make it easy for them to understand your services or products. Explain to them clearly and simply what your business has to offer and how you can help them.

  • Stay with your customer once you have started seeing him or her. It is rude to pass your customer along to another customer service representative.

  • Thank them for their business and invite them to come again. Tell them it was a pleasure serving them.
