Florida nail techs are licensed to care for the nails on hands and feet, and to massage hands. The initial nail specialist registration requires specified course study through state approved schools and submitting proof of satisfactory completion of the courses. There are two courses mandated for nail tech registration. Nail techs who allow this Florida business license to expire often have to complete the bulk of coursework again in order to get it reinstated.

Things You'll Need

  • Proof of required coursework
  • Application and license fees

Retake the 120-hour required course for Florida nail techs at a state approved institution. Obtain proof of completing the course a second time.

Take the four-hour HIV/AIDS course from a school approved by the state unless you have completed this course within the last two years. Get a confirmation from the school of completing this course within the specified time for nail specialist registration.

Print a copy of the application for cosmetology licensing to fill out and mail to the Department of Business and Professional Regulation. Send a check or money order for the application fee and Florida business license fees listed. Send the application and fee payment along with the papers confirming your required course work to the department address on the application. Your renewed license will arrive by mail.
