How to Write a Letter to a Placement Agency Requesting a Suitable Position

If you decide to ask an employment or placement agency to help you find a job, you can send to agencies a letter and a copy of your resume. Your letter should contain key points about your qualifications and should be attached to your resume. It should also state the type of job you want.

  • Look up placement agency information. Find several placement agencies to send letters to. These can be found by looking in newspapers, in the phone book or online. Read through their ads to find out what they are looking for in workers and the types of jobs that are currently available. In your lette to each agencyr, focus on the information you found about that agency.

  • Use a word processing program. Make your cover letter look professional by using standard business letter formatting. The cover letter is the first thing the placement agency will see and to keep their attention, it must be formal, professional and creative. In order for someone to read it thoroughly. You should create a unique letter for each agency.

  • Find out the name of the person responsible for reading the letter. Call each placement agency to get the name of the person who will be reading your letter so that you can properly address the letter. Address the letter directly to the reader by name. Make sure you get the spelling of the first and last name and the sex of the person. With someone whose first name is Leslie, for example, you need to know whether to write "Dear Mr." or "Dear Ms."

  • Describe the reason for the letter. Begin the letter by stating that you are writing this letter to request that the agency find you a suitable job position. Explain that you have researched the company and you believe the agency can do this.

  • Describe the type of job you are looking for and give reasons why you would be good in such a job. Include your qualifications. Offer details about your experience, achievements and skills. Explain how these skills are ideal for the job you are looking for.

  • Close the letter. Express that you have heard that the placement agency has a good record for matching people with jobs and that you would love to have an interview with them. Thank the reader for taking the time to read the letter and note that your resume is attached. Sign the letter and send off the packet.
