How to Set Up Facebook Chat on Adium

Facebook users can chat with their friends by using the Facebook chat client. Ordinarily you will need to sign into Facebook in your browser to use chat. However, if you use Mac OS X you can use the free Adium instant messaging client to use Facebook chat when you do not have Facebook loaded in your Web browser.

Instructions

1. Click the "Adium" menu and select "Preferences."

2. Click "Accounts" then click the "+" button. Select "Jabber" from the list of services.

3. Enter your Facebook username then "@chat.facebook.com." It should look like "[e-mail]." Make sure that the username is the same as in your Facebook account. You can check in the Account Settings of Facebook.

4. Enter your Facebook password.

5. Type "chat.facebook.com" in the options Pane. Click "OK."
