How to Reset a Cisco Aironet 1200 to Factory Defaults

The Cisco Aironet 1200 is a wireless access point that uses the IEEE 802.11g Wi-Fi standard. You can configure the Aironet 1200 many ways but sometimes tinkering with the settings can affect the device's performance and it may stop working correctly. Reset the Aironet to its factory set default configuration to restore the access point to its original state.

  • Unplug the power cable from its socket on the Aironet.

  • Press and hold the Mode button. Reconnect the power cable.

  • Release the Mode button after the LED light turn amber. All settings are restored to factory defaults. After resetting the Aironet you will need to configure it to work with your network through the Web-based administration panel.

  • Type the device's wireless IP address in your Web browser's address line and press Enter to open the login credentials screen.

  • Press Tab to bypass the Username field and advance to the Password field. Enter the case-sensitive password "Cisco" and press Enter to open the Express Setup screen. You can now configure the device with your network settings and preferences.

Tips & Warnings

  • Before you reinstall the Aironet, make sure you are using a computer connected to the same network as the wireless device.
