How to Set Up a Date
If you have a friend whom you are interested in asking out on a date, then you will need to plan ahead. Think of the activities that your friend likes to do, the food she likes to eat and the personal interests she has in movies, art and culture. By brainstorming ahead of time, you can plan a date that will appeal to your date. Your planning will also show how much you aim to impress.

1
Practice what you will say ahead of time. Think of the specific things you like about your prospective date. Map out a specific plan for what you will do on your date if she accepts your invitation.
-
2
Call your prospective date on the phone. Even though the advancement of technology has made asking someone out via email a fairly acceptable action, it always is better to call or ask the person out in person.

Practice a beginning that combines notes from your brainstorming session. You want to compliment your prospective date so that it is clear to her that you are interested in dating her, and you also want to show that you have thought ahead and planned a date with her mind. An example of this kind of blending is the following: "Hi Molly. I've really enjoyed getting to know you over the past few weeks in the moments before Prof. Keats' class. I'd love to continue our conversations over dinner. I was thinking of taking you to La Rue because I know you like French food. Maybe on Friday?"
