How to Find My Zodiac Sign
Ancient mankind used celestial bodies like the stars, the moon and the sun for practical purposes, such as for navigation or as an almanac. But some civilizations believed the mysteries of the past and prediction of the future were contained in the mystical heavens and the changing patterns of the constellations in the night sky. Thus the zodiac was born, with 12 distinct signs based on figures found in the natural world. Enthusiasts believe that your very character can be based on the sign under which you were born and that harnessing this information can help you in every facet of your life.

1
Determine your date of birth. A cursory investigation for your zodiac sign doesn't go much deeper than the month and the day, but a more detailed natal chart can be created if you have the exact time and location of your birth. This may also be needed if the date of your birth falls on a "cusp" date -- the end or beginning date of a zodiac sign.
-
2
Consult the proper charts of the zodiac. Though a 2011 news story originating from the Minneapolis Star Tribune suggested that a "wobble" of the Earth on its axis had shifted the traditional 12 zodiac signs and a 13th sign of Ophiuchus emerged, those Western believers in astrology can rest assured that the tropical zodiac they have always consulted remains unchanged.

3
Compare the dates to find which sign correlates with your date of birth. The dates may be different depending upon the source that you use, and it may show that you are born on a "cusp" date. These changes can be attributed to the fact the band of stars that the zodiac is based upon has shifted slightly by the hour or date and can vary slightly from year to year.
-
4
Consult extended charts if you are born on a "cusp" date, as your most accurate zodiac sign will be only one or the other, not both signs. These extended charts will need the year and time of your birth using a GMT time, because the exact time that the sign shifted from one to the other will determine under which sign you fall.
-
5
Consider daylight saving time or summer time variances should the time of your birth fall within one hour of the signs switching from one to the other, in order to make the most accurate determination possible. This will tell you down to the minute what is your true zodiac sign.
