How to Block Facebook Chat From Loading

If you're a frequent Facebook user, you've likely encountered the situation where someone contacts you via Facebook Chat but you don't really want to talk to anyone. This is where the "Go offline" feature comes in. Using this feature, you can appear offline to other Facebook users even if you're on the Facebook website. Instructions

1. Log in to your Facebook account at Facebook.com.

2. Click on the "Chat" tab in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen.

3. Select the "Options" button and click "Go offline." Your friends list will vanish and the chat tab will return to the bottom of the screen. The tab will read "Chat (Offline)" if you've signed out of the chat service, letting you know that no one can contact you.
