How to Use a Papermate Twistie Pencil

The Paper Mate Sharp Writer Twist Pencil is a non-refillable brand of mechanical pencil. The pencil's twist cap lets you quickly replenish the lead as it wears down instead of having to repeatedly sharpen the pencil, which keeps your desk free of pencil and eraser shavings.

Things You'll Need

• Paper Mate Sharp Writer Twist Pencil
• Paper

Instructions

1. Slightly twist the cap of the Paper Mate Sharp Writer Twist Pencil to the right until about 1/8 inch of lead is exposed.

2. Loosely hold the pencil between the thumb and forefinger of your writing hand.

3. Draw or write as you normally would by gently pressing the lead to the paper.

4. Continue working until the lead has worn down.

5. Twist the pencil's cap slightly to the right to expose another 1/8 inch of lead. Repeat Steps 4 and Step 5 until you complete your project.

Tips & Warnings

• Don't try to write with a long piece of lead. Although the pencil is designed with a shock-absorbent tip to minimize the chances of snapping the lead, using a long piece makes it more susceptible to breaking.
