How to Check the Status of My Illinois Unemployment Claim

Your Illinois unemployment claim is a series of verifications that you still meet the eligibility requirements under the state law. At any time, either due to information provide during your weekly claims certification or information from an investigation, the status of your claim may change. You receive notices of status changes by mail, but you can also check the status by accessing the claims system either online or by phone.

By Internet

1. Access the Illinois unemployment claims site (see Resources). Select "See My Benefit History" under the heading "How Do I?" Click "Go."

2. Log into the system with your Social Security number and the PIN you set up when you first started your claim.

3. View the status of your claim, including any pending payments and the balance of your claim.

By Telephone

1. Call the claims line [phone]. Press "3" to select the third option.

2. Log into the system with your Social Security number and the PIN you set up when you first started your claim.

3. Listen to the status of your claim, including the last payment and the balance on your claim.

Tips & Warnings

• The Illinois Department of Employment Security recommends you avoid using a cellular or cordless phone to call the claims line to avoid dropped calls.

• If you forget your PIN, call the claims line and select the option to speak to a claims agent. Verify your identity with the agent so she can reset your PIN.

• To view your claim online, you need Windows Explorer 6.0 or higher. If you don't have access to those program, you must call the claims line to check on your claim.
