How to Apply for a Job on the CPOL Website

Since 1776, the United States Army has offered employment to civilians who assist the military. Today, the Army offers a service called Civilian Personnel Online, or CPO, which allows civilians to apply online for military jobs. The Army provides an array of career opportunities to civilians, along with benefits including health care, insurance and paid vacation time. Employment is available nationwide and in several countries outside the United States.

      Navigate to the official "Army Civilian Resume Builder" website. Click on "Build Resume," located under "Home" on the left-hand side of the page. Proceed to the next page, and follow the prompts to register for a new user account. Click "Register," then continue to the next page to build your resume.

      Start building your resume by entering your work, education, certifications and cover letter in the appropriate boxes. Click on "Preview Resume" when you are finished. Look over all of your information, and if you are satisfied, select "Save My Resume Draft." Answer the required preliminary questions on the following page, then click "Continue" to continue to the "Supplemental Information" page. If you need any help with your resume, CPOL offers "Resume Builder Help" that will offer step-by-step assistance.

      Answer the supplemental questions, which will consist of two pages of basic inquiries, such as your date of birth, nationality and languages spoken. Press "Continue" on both pages when finished. Read over your information on the final "Supplemental Data Preview" page, then click on "Save Supplemental Data" to continue.

      Go to the official CPOL Vacancy Announcement Board. Begin your job search by entering a keyword in the appropriate box or by selecting an occupation from the drop-down "General Occupation" menu. Select your state, country and pay grade, then click on "Get Results." Browse through the search results on the subsequent page. Click on each job you are interested in, and follow the prompts to apply.
