How to Approach a Girl on the Bus

When you see a girl in whom you're interested, one of the first things that goes through your mind is what you're going to say and how you're going to say it. You might consider going the suave route and whispering sweet nothings to her, or perhaps you'll take a more comedic approach. If you have your eye on a girl while you're riding the bus, you have to make a quick decision to chat with her before her stop arrives and you completely miss the opportunity.

1. Look at her and hold your stare for a moment. Smile and look away but notice if she's smiled back at you or if she's at least noticed you noticing her. Look back at her again and smile. Depending on your personality, this might be the time at which you make a funny face or roll your eyes playfully because you've been sitting at one stop for a while.

2. Walk over to her and introduce yourself. Even if the bus is crowded, the mere fact that you're squeezing in between complete strangers to try to get closer to her will appear honorable on your part. Greet her simply by asking her how she is, or mentioning something about the ride such as, "This couldn't be any bumpier, huh?" If she responds favorably, you can transition into telling her your name. If you are headed into a public area such as museum or shopping district, ask her what's she doing for the day.

3. Say something that showcases your personality. Funny and witty comments usually breaks the ice and your nerves faster than any other approach but whatever you decide to say, make it memorable. You can mention something based on her answer for what she's doing or where she's going.

4. Offer to exchange phone numbers. You don't always have much time to close the deal, so ask and see if she's interested. Try to get her phone number initially, and you can save asking her on an actual date for the follow-up conversation if you're successful. See if she'd want to hang out or chat sometime and let her know you can give her a call to discuss future plans. If she's the least bit interested, she will be willing to exchange numbers.
