Each Kindle comes with a specific and customizable email address, to which users can send documents. This Personal Document Service is free, as long as the document is transmitted to the Kindle via a Wi-Fi connection. A small fee applies for 3 G transfers. It is through Kindle's Personal Document Service that you can convert PDF files -- which are also viewable on the Kindle without conversion -- into the Kindle format.

      Address an email to your Kindle. For free conversion and delivery via the Wi-Fi transfer, address it to (your Kindle's name)@free.kindle.com. For conversion and paid delivery via the 3 G transfer, address it to (your Kindle's name)@kindle.com.

      Type "convert" in the subject line of the email.

      Attach the PDF document you want converted. You can attach up to 25 documents to a single email, though each document cannot exceed 50 MB in size.
