How to Grab Facebook Contacts Onto an iPad

You can access the social networking website Facebook directly from the iPad's built-in web browser, which negates the necessity for a dedicated iPad Facebook application. The iPhone app offers one particular feature that isn't available through web browser access, which is the ability to synchronize contacts between Facebook and the device's Contacts application. By installing the iPhone Facebook application on the iPad, you can use this feature to synchronize the website with the iPad.

Things You'll Need

  • iPhone Facebook application
  • Launch the App Store application on the iPad by tapping its icon on the home screen.

  • Press the "Search" button in the menu at the bottom of the screen and type "Facebook" into the search box in the upper right corner.

  • Select the entry for the iPhone Facebook application from the search results. Press the blue "Free" button to download and install the app on the iPad.

  • Launch the Facebook application on the iPad. The application will appear in a small box in the centre of the screen, which matches the screen resolution of the iPhone. Enter the username and password for your Facebook account in the relevant boxes and tap the "Sign In" button.

  • Press the square button in the upper left corner to open the options page. A list of available Facebook features will be displayed.

  • Tap the "Friends" button to display a list of all your Facebook friends. Press the export button in the upper right corner, shaped like a box with an arrow pointing to the right.

  • Press the "Sync Contacts" button and slide the "Syncing" switch to "On." The iPad's Contacts application will be updated to match your Facebook friends' details.

Tips & Warnings

  • Pressing the "Remove Data" button on the "Sync Contacts" page will remove any additions made to your contacts list by the Facebook app, but will not remove your original Contacts entries.
