How to Use Skype on an iPhone for International Calls
Skype is a free program that allows users to make free phone calls over the Internet to other Skype users. With its iPhone app, you can make voice or video calls for free to anywhere in the world as long as the other user is also on Skype. The person you call does not necessarily have to be on an iPhone; he could also be on Skype via his computer. To use Skype, you and the person you want to call must both set up Skype accounts and arrange to be on Skype at the same time.

Tap the App Store icon on your iPhone's home screen.

Press "Search." Type "Skype" into the search bar and press "Search."

Tap the Skype listing. Tap the "Free" button; tap it again when it turns green and says "Install." Enter your Apple ID and password. The app appears on your iPhone's home screen with a progress bar.

Tap the Skype app when the progress bar disappears. Tap "Create Account" if you do not already have one. Press "Accept," and then enter your name, desired user name, a password and your email. Tap "Done." Verify your account by clicking the link in the email Skype sends you.

Tell the person overseas whom you want to call to create a Skype account as well. Arrange a time for both of you to be on Skype at the same time.

Tap the Skype app at the designated time and log in with your new username and password.

Tap "Contacts." Tap the + button in the upper-right corner. Tap "Search Skype Directory." Type in the name or Skype username of your friend. Tap the name of your friend to go to his profile page. Tap "Add Contact" at the bottom if you want to be able to see him in your contact list for future calls. He will have to accept your friend request.

Tap "Call" or "Video Call" on your friend's profile page to commence the phone call. Your friend must be online, indicated by a green cloud next to "Online" in the status bar, for the call to connect.
