How to Transfer NamesDirect to GoDaddy
Registering domain names on the Internet is a convenient way of reserving your personal or business space on the Web. Periodically, you may wish to transfer the domain name your previously purchased to a new provider. For example, you may want to transfer because a new provider offers lower yearly renewal rates. Fortunately, you can transfer NamesDirect to GoDaddy. First, you must unlock each domain within NamesDirect and then transfer names to GoDaddy using their transfer website.

Unlock NamesDirect Domain Names

Log into your NamesDirect account. Enter your account's username or domain name and the account password.

Click "View a Complete List of All Domains in Your Account." Click on each domain to unlock and select "Manage Domain."

Click "Unlock Domains That Have TransferLock." Each domain will be automatically unlocked for transfer once you select this option. Log off of the account once you unlock the domains by clicking "Logout."
Transfer Domains to GoDaddy

Check the e-mail address listed in the Whois database. Enter the domain name and select "Go!" Ensure that the email address listed in for your domain is accessible. You will have to confirm the transfer by checking the listed email account.

Purchase the domain names you previously unlocked at GoDaddy's domain name transfer website. Enter the domain name and complete the purchase. Be prepared to enter your billing information and your email address.

Check the email account you entered to obtain the transfer's "Transaction ID" and "Security Code". Write those numbers down.

Authorize the transfer at the GoDaddy website. Login to your GoDaddy Account Manager. Click "Domain Manager," "Pending Transfers" and "Authorization".

Select "Begin Transfer Authorizaton" and enter the "Transaction ID" and "Security Code" and click "Next". Click "Next" again and select "Finish". Because you previously unlocked the domains in NamesDirect, you do not need to enter an authorization code for NamesDirect on this form.

Check the transfer progress after five to seven days. Login to your GoDaddy Account Manager and click "Domain Manager". Select "Pending Transfers and view the status in the window that appears. You will see the transfer progress, any recommended action and the email address associated with the domain.
