How to Draw An Anime Girl Crying
Anime expressions are exaggerated to depict moods and thoughts. Anger is expressed through the eyes and a vein mark on the face represents annoyance or anger. An expression not common to the west is a male's nose bleeding to express love and an embarrassed anime character will have excess sweat coming off the body. Crying is expressed through tears and squinted eyes. The tears will either be streaming down the face or flying off the face to the side.

1
Sketch an action line to depict the action of the crying girl. For example if the girl is sitting, the action line should start as a vertical, for the top part of the body, and then curve to a horizontal for the seated position and back to a vertical line for the legs hanging down.
-
2
Add basic shapes to represent the girl's body parts such as an oval shape for the head and for the girl's chest and hips. (Reference 1)
-
-
3
Draw circles for joints like elbows, hands, and feet.
-
4
Draw the mouth as an oval shape to represent an open mouth or as an upside down U to represent sadness.
-
5
Draw slanted up eyes and eyebrows.
-
6
Create small circles representing tears flying off from the eyes or draw oval lines coming down from the eyes to represent a stream of tears. (References 1 and 2)
-
7
Add definition and details to the body form.
-
8
Draw the girl's hair as one large area and use a second shape for creating a ponytail.
