How to Bake a Pork Shoulder for BBQ Pork Sandwiches
Oven roast a pork shoulder to prepare tender, barbecue pulled pork sandwiches. To make the sandwiches, shred the roasted pork and mix it with a tangy, spicy or sweet barbecue sauce of your choice. The saucy meat is then piled high onto a fresh hamburger bun and typically eaten with a fork. Things You'll Need
- 6-pound pork shoulder roast
- Roasting pan with lid
- Seasonings, such as salt and pepper, to taste
- Instant-read food thermometer
- Platter
- Large bowl
- Barbecue sauce

Preheat your oven to 300 degrees F. Place a 6-pound pork shoulder roast in a roasting pan.

Season the pork with salt, ground black pepper, paprika or garlic powder to taste. Run the spices into the pork with clean hands. Wash your hands with warm, soapy water.

Cover the roasting pan with a tight-fitting lid. Place the pan on the oven's center rack. Slow roast the pork for six hours, or until an instant read thermometer registers as at least 160 degrees F when inserted into the thickest portion. The meat should be tender.

Transfer the roast to a platter and shred it using two forks. Place the shredded pork into a large bowl and mix it with your desired barbecue sauce. Serve the pulled pork on hamburger buns.
