How to Make the Description Font Smaller in Blogger

Save

The description on your Blogger blog is the lines that appear below your title. The template determines the font size of this content you use, but you have the option to change this if you prefer something smaller. Blogger makes the HyperText Markup Language (HTML) code available to you so you have the ability to make the customizations not automatically provided through the tools in your account. Understand how to edit your code to make your blog's description the size you prefer.

  • Bring up the Blogger website and log in to your account (see Resources).

  • Click the "Design" or "Layout" link or tab that displays and then click the "Edit HTML" link underneath the menu. This action brings up the HTML code that controls your blog.

  • Scroll through your page until you see the "#header .description" rule, which is the code that controls the style of your description. Optionally, press the "CTRL" and "F" buttons on your keyboard and enter "header .description" in the text field that appears to highlight this location in the page.

  • Find the "font-size" attribute between the curly brackets and change the existing number to something lower. If your current font-size setting is 110 percent, for example, enter 109 percent or lower like so:

    header .description { font-size: 109%; }
  • Click the "Preview" button to view the smaller font of your blog description. When satisfied, click the "Save Template" button to preserve your changes.
