How to Get a Guy to Notice You If You're Texting, Even If You Have Been Friends Forever
As a rule, it can be tricky to let your guy friend know that you wish to take things to the next level, but there are many subtle ways to successfully do so. It's a bit nerve-wracking, since there is somewhat of a risk involved. If he rejects your advances, is the friendship ruined or forever tainted? The good news is that by choosing your words carefully when texting, you put yourself in a virtual win-win situation. If you follow a few steps, you won't be seen as coming on too strong.

Increase the amount of texts you send him. Don't get too flirty just yet though, especially if he's just become available. You don't want to seem too eager or obvious at any point, much less this one. Simply place yourself on his mind by gradually texting him more with innocuous messages, such as "did you see the game?" or "crazy about the term paper due, huh?" or whatever it is that you two usually talk about. The key is to not stray from the ordinary at first; simply text him a bit more frequently.

2
Invite him to more casual events. They don't have to be on a grand scale, either; a simple party or sporting event will do. At this point, start to up the ante with the flirting, but don't be too obvious. For example, if he says something funny, compliment him on it, and then invite him to the event which you have planned.

Use the absence of any particular plans to your advantage. If nothing is going on with either of you on a particular day, suggest that the pair of you do something together. Don't be too scared to use emoticons to your advantage either. Winks are a good tool to use, for example. Especially after you've given him a compliment.

Keep the messages short. This is a good rule of thumb for any text conversation, but especially if you're flirting or teasing each other. Obviously, with texting, you don't have tone of voice, facial expressions, body language and subtle touching available, so things can get misunderstood if you are a heavy-handed typer. Brevity is advised.
