How to Create an IFrame in Dreamweaver

Save

Using an iframe to display website content from a third-party source, such as an image, news feed, banner ad or standalone multimedia player, is a fairly old-fashioned design technique that is rarely used these days. If you really must use an iframe on your website, you can create and insert the necessary HTML code in Adobe Dreamweaver Web design software.

  • Open an existing HTML document or creatre a new HTML page.

  • Select the Design tab and then click on the exact location in the document where you want to insert the iframe.

  • Click the Code button near the Design tab to change the page to HTML code view.

  • Insert the following code:

    <iframe src="http://www.website.com" width="250" height="250"></iframe>

  • Replace "http://www.website.com" with the URL of the page or resource you want to appear in the iframe.

  • Replace the height and width settings if desired. You may need to experiment with these to ensure the content displays correctly in the frame.

  • Press the Ctrl-S keys to save the document.

Tips & Warnings

  • Wherever possible, enhance visitor experience by embedding content directly in your website pages rather than through an iframe.
