How to Connect a Dynex Component Video Selector's White, Yellow & Red Cables

Save

If you have a large number of electronic devices that you want to connect to your television, you know that sometimes there aren't enough inputs for the amount of connections you want to make. The Dynex Component Video Selector is a device that allows you to connect up to four devices to one input on the back of your television. You can then switch between these devices by pressing a button on the front. You can connect a device using standard white, yellow and red AV cables.

  • Place the Dynex Component Video Selector in a location where the cables will reach the television and all of the devices that you want to connect. Run the white, yellow and red cables from each device that you want to connect (video game console, DVD player, VHS player) and place them next to the video selector.

  • Connect the yellow video cable from the first device into the yellow port at the top right of the section on the back of the video selector labeled "IN 1." Do not worry about the other ports, as they are meant for HD component cables. Connect the white and red audio cables into the matching ports at the bottom right of the same section.

  • Repeat Step 2 for each device that you wish to connect to the video selector, making sure to connect the white, yellow and red cables to the corresponding ports in the different sections. Make note of which device is connected to which numbered input to use them after the devices are connected.

  • Connect a yellow video wire from the yellow video port on the upper right corner of the "OUT" section on the back of the video selector. Connect the other end of this cable to an open video input on the back of your television. Connect the white and red audio cables to the inputs below this and connect the other ends to the white and red inputs on your television.

  • Connect the power adapter to the input on the back of the video selector. Plug the other end of this adapter into an open AC wall outlet. Turn on your television and press the "Input" button to access the selector. Turn on the device you want to use and press the "Select" button on the front until the corresponding input number lights up.
