How to Switch to Regular Outlook Web Access From Outlook Web Access Light


Outlook Web Access (OWA) allows you to access email and other information stored on a Microsoft Exchange Server from a Web browser. The simpler Outlook Web Access Light option, intended for use in situations where the browser you are using does not support the full version, or over slow Internet connections, provides less functionality than the full version. It is simple to switch to the regular version, but you must be using Microsoft Internet Explorer version 6 or later to do so.

  • Log off from your existing Outlook Web Access light session by clicking "Log off" in the top right, and then close your Web browser.

  • Open Microsoft Internet Explorer on your computer. You must use IE and not an alternative browser to use the full OWA interface.

  • Type your OWA address into the Internet Explorer address bar and press "Return."

  • Enter your OWA user name and password in the fields provided. If you see a tick in the box marked "Use Outlook Web Access Light," click the check box to remove it.

  • Click the orange "Log On" button. OWA loads with the full interface.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you are using a browser other than Microsoft Internet Explorer, OWA grays out the "Use Outlook Web Access Light" check box so that you cannot change the setting.
  • If you are using a shared computer, always be sure to log out at the end of your session.
