GoDaddy is a domain name registrar, one of the largest registrars in the world. An authorization code is a unique code given to each domain name which provides your domain with extra security protection. GoDaddy assigns an authorization code when you register a domain name. GoDaddy stores and maintains the authorization code. You need an authorization code to transfer one domain name to another registrar. You can obtain a GoDaddy authorization code in several ways.

Instructions

Obtain GoDaddy Authorization Code for an Active Domain via Email

1. Go to GoDaddy.com and sign in to "Account Manager."

2. Click "Domain Manager" in the "My Products" area..

3. Click your domain name.

4. Click "Send by Email" in the "Domain Information" section. The "Send by Email" link is on the line that says, "Authorization Code."

5. Click "OK" twice to obtain GoDaddy authorization codes via email.

Obtain GoDaddy Authorization Code for an Expired Domain via Email

1. Visit GoDaddy.com and then log in to the "Account Manager."

2. Click "Domain Manager" in the "My Products" section.

3. Click the option from "Domains" that says, "Recover Expired Domains." Select your domain name.

4. Click "Email Authorization" and "OK" to obtain your GoDaddy authorization code by email.

Tips & Warnings

• The authorization code is sent via email to the administrator of the domain name. Ensure your name is the one on file when you purchase the domain name from GoDaddy.
