How to Be a Ghost for Halloween
Ghosts are some of the most frequently used Halloween images, and dressing as a ghost is a timeless -- and simple to make -- Halloween costume. While standard ghost costumes involve a large bed sheet with holes for eyes cut-out, those costumes seem too generic or basic to most aspiring ghosts. By slightly modifying the standard costume, you can achieve a more intriguing final product with the same ease of the original process.
Things You'll Need
- White flat bed sheet
- Scissors
- Black marker
- White cord or long shoelace
- Fabric glue
- Face paint

1
Drape the bed sheet over your head, pulling the edge of the sheet to your hairline. At this stage, the sheet should be covering your backside to and look like a veil or hooded robe.
-
2
Drape the sides of the sheet over your shoulders, so the sheet also covers your front.
-
-
3
Tie the sheet at neck level with a white cord or long white shoelace. Do not tie it directly around your neck. It should be tight enough the keep the top of the sheet covering your head, but still loose like a cloak.
-
4
Allow the sheet to fall naturally over the front of your body.
-
5
Glue the ends of the sheet together down the front to obscure the clothes worn underneath. If the sheet was large enough to overlap in the front, you do not need to glue the fabric together.
-
6
Trim the end of the sheet around the bottom hem if it is too long, to avoid tripping. Keep the sheet long enough that your shoes are not visible, if possible.
-
7
Paint your face with white and gray face paint. Darken the area under your eyes and cheekbones to create a sunken visage. Paint your hands as well, if you want to go the extra mile.
