Clippy is included in Microsoft Word -- it shows up as a paper clip animated "helper." If you're a new Microsoft Word user, Clippy can help you learn how to use the word processing software by giving you access to help articles related to the software. Clippy is disabled by default, but you can enable Clippy in the Help menu options. After you learn how to use the word processor, disable Clippy to stop the paper clip animation from opening when you load Word.
Click the Windows "Start" button and select "All Programs." Click "Microsoft Office," then click "Microsoft Word." The software opens on the desktop.
Click the "Help" menu item at the top of the software. Click "Show the Office Assistant." The paper clip icon displays in the window.
Right-click Clippy and remove the check mark next to "Use the Office Assistant." Click "OK" to save the changes and re-hide the animation.
