Heart shaped candy is an inexpensive, cute gift idea.

Valentine's Day is coming up and you want to give your boyfriend a really cool gift he will like. Unless you are super confident and don't care if he doesn't get you anything, try to subtly find out his thoughts about this special day a week or two in advance. He may be one of those types who doesn't believe in commercial holidays, in which case you will know to keep any gifting to a minimum. When presenting the gift to your boyfriend make sure it is wrapped nicely. Either give it to him at school, after school or hand deliver it to his house.

Buy or make your gift. If you are 12 years old, you really don't want to be spending all your pocket money on your boyfriend. A cool greeting card is more than enough. Hundreds are available at bookstores, stationery stores and supermarkets in the weeks leading up to Valentine's Day. Think about his personality and choose a card he will like. He may prefer something funny or cute rather than an overly soppy card. If you want to include a gift as well, make him a playlist of his favorite tracks. Or make some cookies, fudge or brownies and wrap them nicely in cellophane, tied with a ribbon.

Give the gift to your boyfriend at school. If you both attend the same school, you could slip a Valentine's Day card into his locker before classes start as a nice surprise for him to find. Or you could give him the gift in class or at recess. It depends how long you have been together, whether your relationship is "official" and whether you want the whole school to know what you got him. If you want to be more discreet about things, wait until lunch or after school, then ask him to come for a walk with you. Hide the gift in your backpack then give it to him when you reach a more private area away from lots of people. If you are at different schools, wait until after school hours to give him the gift.

Deliver the gift to his home. If you have been invited to his house before then it's probably okay to knock on the door, ask for him and hand him his gift. Consider how he will feel about this before you do it. Young guys can get easily embarrassed and he might get teased by his parents or siblings. Or, he might be fine with it. It depends how long you two have known each other, how long you have known his parents and how comfortable you are together. If unsure, avoid making a big fuss of presenting your gift and just hand it to him casually, preferably without his entire family standing there staring at you. If you are easily embarrassed, you could just leave the gift on the porch or in the mailbox.
