How to Get TV Hosting Jobs
Hosting a television show is not nearly as simple as it might look. Television hosts come in many varieties, such as news shows, talk shows and game shows. Other than being extroverted and charismatic, television hosts must also have a strong understanding of television broadcasting, production and fields related to the subject matter they are hosting. Oftentimes a background in journalism, theater or broadcasting is a must to get your foot in the door of TV hosting.

1
Acquire a bachelor's degree at a college or university that specializes in broadcast journalism, television broadcasting or communications. Also, try your hand at elective courses in theater or acting to develop your stage presence. Most TV hosting jobs will not even consider you without a bachelor's degree.
-
2
Consider what kinds of fields interest you the most, or what kinds of shows you would like to host. Study what you feel the most passionately about. If being a new show host or news anchor interests you, constantly be attuned to current events and study journalism. If fashion or sports interests you, study it thoroughly and try looking for work in related fields after college.

3
Acquire an internship while in college, preferably with a major television network or news station. Get as much hands-on training as you can while in college, whether it be working for local public access, or working for on-campus shoots. Develop important, established contacts in the industry.
-
4
After college, start job hunting. Check job ads for local news stations, nightclubs or cable access. Remember that competition for these jobs can get intense, so you must develop your skills as much as you can, even without a hosting gig. When not hosting, get a job that requires showcasing your charisma to large crowds, such as event hosting.
