Highlighting single words, sentences or paragraphs blog post or Web page adds emphasis and draws the reader's eye to the most important parts of your text. Highlight text in a WordPress document by adding basic HTML design code to your post in the post creation and editor tool.
Log in to WordPress. Click "Add New" under the "Posts" section on the left side of the screen to open the post creation tool.
Type your blog post. Consider which parts of the text you want to highlight.
Click the "HTML" tab above the post editing box on the right side. Enter this code immediately before the section of text you'd like to highlight:
<SPAN style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #000000">
Place this code after the section of text you'd like to highlight:
Edit the "#000000" section and use the relevant hex code for the color you want as your highlight color. The hex code is a six-digit number that represents a specific RGB color. Click the "Publish" button when you're done.
