Brush teeth together in the morning, evening and after every meal.

Adults are supposed to brush their teeth at least twice a day to prevent plaque buildup and fight against cavities. Aside from healthy teeth and gums, regular brushing freshens your breath -- kissing a minty fresh mouth is a much more pleasant experience than kissing someone who doesn't brush at all. If your boyfriend's dental hygiene is getting in the way of your relationship, you should stress to him the importance of regular brushing.

Instructions

Tell him that you are not pleased with his lack of teeth brushing and explain to him how it makes you feel. It might be a bit of a touchy subject to criticize someone's personal hygiene but it is important to be frank with him. He isn't a mind reader and unless you tell him that his lack of brushing bothers you, he might never try to resolve the problem.

Brush your teeth together to make it a routine. If he has a hard time remembering to brush his teeth, make it a habit to brush your teeth at the same time. That way, you will be able to remind him and he can learn to brush based on your dental habits.

Buy an electric toothbrush. Many people find it annoying and time consuming to brush for an extended period of time. An electric toothbrush might encourage him to brush more frequently because it is quick and gives his teeth and gums a pleasant massage.

Keep an extra toothbrush or electric toothbrush head at your house. If your boyfriend spends the night at your house a lot, make sure he has the proper equipment to brush his teeth the next morning. Many men might be afraid to start leaving items at their girlfriend's place for fear of "coming on too strong." Let him know that you are OK with him leaving a few items if it helps him keep proper care of his teeth.

Ditch one of your bad habits. Make him a deal that if he starts to brush his teeth more, you will stop doing something that annoys him. Make the challenge fun and playful, so he doesn't get offended. By offering to stop one of your habits you are letting him know that you have imperfections too.
