How to Convert to 3GP in Avidemux

The 3GP file format stores digital videos that have been especially compressed to stream on 3G network mobile phones. An extension of the MPEG-4 Part 14 compression standard, 3GP files closely resemble MP4 files in terms of video encoding. In fact, some 3GP files can still be opened if their file extension has been changed to MP4. While Avidemux can be used to export digital video in several alternate formats, it does not encode 3GP files. Nonetheless, the application can generate MP4 videos that have the same standard codecs and resolution as a 3GP file.

Instructions

    • 1

Launch Avidemux. Go to "File" and select "Open." Browse for the input video in the file selection window. Select the item and click "Open" to load the media into the application.

Open the "Audio" drop-down menu and choose the "AAC (Faac)" codec.
