How to Dye Lavender Fabric
When you buy a garment that is a beautiful lavender color, you may enjoy wearing it a lot. However, frequent use and cleaning of fabric can cause it to fade. This can make your garment appear old and grungy. One solution is to dye the garment using lavender fabric dye, which will make the garment look fresh and new again. You can find lavender fabric dye inexpensively at any fabric or craft supply store.

1
Fill a large pot with 3 gallons of distilled water. Using distilled water will prevent unnecessary minerals from altering the effectiveness of the fabric dye.
-
2
Pour in 1 package of lavender-colored, powdered fabric dye. Stir the mixture well with a long-handled spoon for 2 minutes to properly combine them.
-
-
3
Pour in 2 cups of non-iodized table salt, and stir the mixture with the long-handled spoon for 2 minutes.
-
4
Heat the pot over high heat to bring the solution to a boil. Once the boil begins, reduce the heat to medium-low.
-
5
Submerge the fabric into the simmering dye solution, and press it down with the spoon. Stir the fabric a few times to ensure that all of the fabric is sufficiently saturated.
-
6
Simmer the fabric for 30 minutes, then place it into a sink. Rinse the fabric with cold water for 15 minutes so that all of the excess lavender dye will be rinsed out of the fabric.
