How to Rotate the View in "Age of Empires III"

"Age of Empires III" is a strategy game that features historic battles in both single-player campaigns and online multi-player modes. The game is played from a third-person isometric perspective which allows the player a bird's-eye view of his armies and cities. Though active units are highlighted when behind buildings or walls, rotating the camera view may offer a better visual. Rotating the camera is not enabled by default and must be turned on.

  • Enter the menu screen by launching the game or by pressing the "Escape" key while in-game.

  • Select the "Help and Tools" button in the main menu and then click on "Options" from the tools menu. The options screen will appear.

  • Choose the "Game Options" tab.

  • Check the bubble next to "Allow Camera Rotation" in the "Game Options" screen.

  • Click on the "OK" button to confirm the change and close the options screen.

  • Press and hold the "Control" key while pressing the "Left" or "Right" arrows to rotate the camera view while in-game. You can also press and hold the "Shift" key while rotating the mouse wheel up or down.
