How to Make a Popover

Light, flaky pastry makes a popover decadent and melt-in-your-mouth delicious. Knowing how to make a popover doesn't have to involve kitchen expertise or culinary prowess because the recipe is just a simple combination of very common pantry ingredients. A popover pastry is similar to Yorkshire pudding, but can be customized with any filling style you prefer whether you like savory or sweet flavors. Things You'll Need

  • 4 eggs
  • 2 1/4 cups flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 qt. mixing bowl
  • 12 custard cups
  • 1 cup optional filling

      Add flour, salt and baking powder to the mixing bowl. Crack the eggs into the bowl.

      Drizzle milk into bowl of ingredients as you gradually mix batter. Whisk it thoroughly until all of the milk is poured into the bowl. The texture should be thin and smooth, free of lumps.

      Preheat your oven to 375 F. Fill each custard cup half full with batter. If you want a filling in your popovers, drop a tablespoon full of the filling in the center of each filled custard cup.

      Bake the custard cups in a muffin pan for 25 minutes, or until they are doubled in size and golden brown. If you chose a filling, it should be embedded in the popovers, and hot.
