Enlarged facial pores can spoil an otherwise smooth and clear complexion. Large pores are frequently found in the T-zone, which is the nose, chin and surrounding skin. This is especially the case, if you have oily skin. The pores of the skin become large due to excessive oil production. Once the pores get larger, they may remain that way.       Exfoliate your face with a gentle facial scrub. Choose a scrub that contains exfoliating jojoba beads and hydrating ingredients, such as cocoa butter. Use it once per week. Dampen your hands and spread the scrub to the face using your fingers. Using your fingertips, massage it gently into the skin. Rinse it off with warm water and a washcloth. Do this once or twice per week.

      Use a topical retinoid on the skin at least four evenings per week. There are both over-the-counter retinoids and prescription retinoids. The prescription version is stronger. The main ingredient is Vitamin A and retinoids minimize large pores and unclog them. Apply a pea-sized amount of retinoid to the skin 30 minutes after washing it.

      Apply a pore tightening mask twice per week. These clean your pores of oil and bacteria and tighten them. The best masks for tightening pores are clay and mud. Apply the mask to the skin after washing it with cleanser. Let it sit for 10 to 20 minutes. Wash it off with a soft washcloth and water. Follow it up with a good moisturizer.

      Smooth a night cream containing alpha hydroxy acids on the skin two to three times per week. Alpha hydroxy acids work to unclog pores, which helps shrink them. Another benefit is that it brightens the skin tone. Apply the night cream all over the face after washing it with cleanser. It is possible to use it nightly, but you could experience skin irritation.
