How to Change Your Voice While Talking

The ability to change your voice can help you obtain jobs or at least entertain your friends during a night out. There are many ways that you can change your voice. Odds are you change your voice all the time without realizing it. Any funny voices or impressions that you do occur because of voice changing techniques. You may also change your voice depending on whom you are addressing. Some people talk in a more conversational tone to their superiors at work than they would to their spouse at home. Use some techniques that you use daily to begin your voice-changing repertoire.

1. Change your voice drastically by increasing or decreasing in volume. Odds are your "yelling" voice greatly differs from your everyday speaking voice. Practice talking as loud as you can without yelling. Next try talking as quietly as you can while still remaining audible. Try projecting your voice without yelling. You can do this by talking from your diaphragm, which is located above your stomach. Use your stomach muscles to project your voice instead of your vocal chords.

2. Change pitch while speaking. Talk in an extremely high-pitched voice, one that is so high that it squeaks. See how high you can make your voice go. On the other hand, talk as deeply as you can. Try to see how deep you can make your voice go without your voice cracking. Again, talk from your diaphragm to project the new sounds that you are making.

3. Work with the shape of your mouth. Position your tongue in ways that you haven't tried within your mouth. Try talking with these differences. Likely your voice will come out jumbled, or you may create a noise that you never knew that you could make. Make an O with your mouth and try to talk normally or talk by using your throat as this will help you to make a odd noise. Try talking through your nose for the notorious nasal sound.

4. Purchase a voice changer. Voice changers can come with your phone or computer, or can be used with these devices. Voice changers mechanically alter your voice in a variety of ways. Just by speaking into these normally you can change the tone of your voice or sound like somebody completely different.
