How to Get Rid of Pdfupd.exe

Pdfupd.exe is malware that downloads more viruses onto your computer. You can delete the pdfupd.exe file itself, but it will reappear the next time you restart your computer. That's because it also installs a copy on your computer, which you also have to remove to completely get rid of pdfupd.exe.

Instructions

    • 1

Restart your computer and press "F8" as the computer restarts, but before Windows loads. This opens the Advanced Boot Options window.

    • 2

Navigate with the keyboard arrows to highlight "Safe Mode" and press "Enter."

    • 3

Click "Start" and type "Pdfupd.exe" into the search bar at the bottom.

    • 4

Right-click "Pdfupd.exe" in the search results and select "Delete." Repeat for "fifqsysguard.exe." This is the backup file that re-installs "Pdfupd.exe." If you don't get rid of this too, Pdfupd.exe will return.

    • 5

Right-click the "Recycle Bin" icon on your desktop and select "Empty Recycle Bin."

    • 6

Restart your computer and allow it to boot into normal mode.
