How to Change Backgrounds With GIMP 2.0
Photography can be tricky. You might take a photo that looks just fine, until you take a closer look later and realize you would like a different background for the people or objects in the scene. While many people use a pricey commercial graphics program to switch out the background for another one they want, you can also use the free GIMP application to accomplish this change.

Load the image with the background you want to remove onto your computer, along with an image containing the background you actually want. They need to be the same size.

Select "File" from the menu and choose "Open" to start the GIMP application. In the dialog, open the image you want to use as the new background.

Select "File" from the menu and choose "Open." In the dialog, open the image in which you want to replace the background.

Select "Edit" from the menu and choose "Copy." Go to the first document, select "Edit" from the menu and choose "Paste."

Select the "Path" tool from the toolbar and use it to draw a selection of the background in the top layer. Click "Delete" on your keyboard to remove it. Save your work.
