How to Mute the Pop Noise in Facebook

Facebook chat allows you to instant message with anyone on your friends list.

You've logged into Facebook to check if you have any new messages. Pop. What's that? Pop. Another one. Pop. That annoying "pop" sound you hear happens whenever someone sends you an instant message using Facebook's chat application. While you could just make yourself appear offline, you can also change the Facebook chat settings in order to stop that pop noise from playing whenever you receive a Facebook chat message.

Instructions

1. Sign into Facebook.

2. Click "Chat," located in the bottom-right corner.

3. Click "Options."

4. Remove the check from the "Play New Sounds for Messages" by clicking on the box.
