Missouri 2009 PTS Instructions
The Missouri Department of Revenue allows senior citizens and disabled persons who rent a home or apartment to deduct some or all of their rent payments from their taxable income when filing a state income tax return. Deductions for rent paid in 2009 can be claimed by filing the 2009 Form MO-PTS with the Department of Revenue.

Download a copy of the 2009 Missouri PTS form. The state Department of Revenue provides a PDF version of the 2009 MO-PTS form. You can download, print and fill out the form and mail it to the Department of Revenue.

Fill out the MO-PTS portion of the form. On lines 1 through 7, provide your name, date of birth and Social Security number. If married, provide your spouse's name, date of birth and Social Security number. Check the box indicating your tax credit eligibility and filing status. Provide the amount of income, non-taxable Social Security benefits received, pension income, railroad retirement benefits, veterans payments, public assistance received and non-business losses accrued in 2009. On line 8, add the totals in lines 1 through 7. On line 9, check the box indicating your filing status. Perform the requested calculation on line 10.

Fill out the MO-CRP portion of the form in duplicate. Provide your name, address, Social Security number, spouse's name and spouse's Social Security number. Provide your landlord's name, address and phone number. Indicate the beginning and end of your rental period. Indicate the amount of rent you paid in 2009 and check the appropriate box on line 7. On lines 8 and 9, perform the requested calculations.

File the MO-PTS and MO-CRP forms with the Missouri Department of Revenue and your landlord. Provide your landlord with two copies of your MO-CRP form. Mail your completed MO-PTS form to the Missouri Department of Revenue, P.O. Box 2800, Jefferson City, Missouri 65105-2800.
