Most laptops support a single video output connection called "VGA," or Video Graphics Array. VGA video connections transmit analog video signals from one source device, such as your laptop, to a viewing device, such as your HDTV or monitor. If your laptop does not have an HDMI connection, you can convert your laptop's VGA connection to an HDMI connection.
Things You'll Need
- VGA-to-HDMI converter
- VGA cable
- HDMI cable
Connect a VGA cable to your laptop's VGA output port and finger tighten the attached screws until they are snug.
Attach the other end of the VGA cable to the VGA input port on the converter and tighten the screws using your fingers.
Insert one end of an HDMI cable into the HDMI output port on the converter and insert the other end into your viewing device, such as your HDTV or additional monitor.
Plug the power adapter cord that came with the converter into its power port and then plug the other end into a wall outlet or power strip. Your laptop's default video connection has now been converted to HDMI and is ready for use.
