How to Make Your Neopet Gain a Level
Increasing a Neopet's level is vital to players who wish to battle in the Battledome. After all, pets that have a higher level are able to battle the vicious enemies in the arena. You may want to focus on daily training in one of the training academies located around the site or relying on zaps of the Lab Ray might appeal to you more. For the lab ray, you must have a completed map. The training school requires payment by codestones.

Sign in to your Neopets account. Click the "Explore" link on the menu located towards the top of the page. Scroll down to find the "Mystery Island" link and click it.

Locate the training school in the middle of the main map page. Click the sign above the building. Click the "Courses" link on the school's main page. Several course types are available and are dependent on your pet's current level. For instance, a pet who is at a level under 20 is considered a "Grasshopper," and it will cost one codestone to increase his level by one.

Scroll to the bottom of the page and select the pet you wish to train and the desired course. Click the "Start Course" button at the bottom. This leads to the course status page.

Look at the pet that is training. The name of the codestone needed for payment is located next to the pet. Click the blue "Here" link to pay for the courses. The next page will show when your pet finishes his training.

Buy the "Secret Laboratory Map" to gain access to the Lab Ray.

Find the pieces by clicking the "Shops" link at the top of the screen and selecting the "Shop Wizard" link on the drop down menu. Type in "Secret Laboratory Map" to find all nine individual pieces. If you want to gather the pieces more quickly go to the "Trading Post" link located in the "Shops" drop down menu. Type "Secret Laboratory Map" in the trading post search box and make an offer on an entire set.

Complete the map by clicking the "Games" link at the top of the page. Scroll down the page and click on the "Puzzles" link. Once in the puzzle games area go to page five to find the "Treasure Maps" page. Click the link and then click the blue "Laboratory" link on the next page. Your Lab Map will show up and you will have the option to hit the "Convert" button. This will allow you access to the Lab Ray.

Click the button that says "Yes! I want to try the ray!" Select the pet you wish to zap and click the "Carry on with the Experiment" button. Results for the lab ray vary and include level gains. You can use the ray one time each day.
