How Can You Access Wi-Fi Hot Spots From Home?
A Wi-Fi hot spot is a zone where you can access wireless Internet. To utilize these hot spots, you'll need a Wi-Fi card installed on your computer or an external USB drive that attaches to your computer. You can purchase one of these drives at your local computer store. Once your computer is set up to receive wireless signals, you'll be able to access the Internet from your home in just a couple of minutes.

1
Switch the internal Wi-Fi card on your computer to the "On" position if you're using this method to access hot spots. This switch will be located on the side of your computer; it usually has a light that will turn on when you turn the switch to the "On" position.
-
2
Insert your external USB Wi-Fi drive into one of the USB ports on the side of your computer.

-
3
Double-click on the wireless icon, which will be located on your desktop in the bottom right corner of the screen.
-
4
Double-click on one of the names of the wireless networks that appears in the list. These networks will be arranged from strongest signal to weakest, so click on the network at the top of the list first.
-
5
Enter the password for the network if one is required and hit "Enter." If you don't know the password, you won't be able to access that network. If you live above a business that offers wireless internet to its patrons, ask the owner or the manager of the business if you can have the password.

6
Move around to different areas of your home if you aren't successful at finding a hot spot or you are unable to connect to a particular network. Depending on the size of your home, there may be multiple hot spots available to you from different locations. Try going outside as well; you may find better connections from outdoors.
