How to Assign Keyboard Keys on a Dell Inspiron E1505

While the keyboard installed on the Dell E1505 comes configured from Dell with a number of keyboard shortcuts, it still may be necessary to change the behavior of certain keys. Fortunately, the process is straightforward and can be completed without the need for additional software or for modifications to the actual keyboard. Equally as important, any changes made to the keyboard can be undone using the reverse of the procedure used to make the changes.

  • Navigate to the Start menu and select "Run."

  • Type "control keyboard" in the run box and press "OK."

  • Select the "Key settings" tab displayed on the screen, then select the key you want to modify.

  • Press "Configure" to modify the key's behavior or select "Assign/Manage Macro" to choose a macro that will start when the key is pressed.

  • Press the "Restore defaults" button to undo any modifications made.
