The Dell Dimension E520 is a desktop computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 processor, integrated Nvidia GeForce 6150 LE graphics, 250 GB hard drive, 1 GB of RAM and Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition pre-installed from the factory. The E520 also includes a DVD-ROM drive as well as a secondary DVD burner. The BIOS contains important component configuration options. You might need to enter the BIOS when changing the boot options or adjusting the internal clock time.

  • Shut down the Dell Dimension E520.

  • Restart the computer and examine the screen.

  • Press the "F2" key after the blue "Dell" logo splash screen appears. Quickly press the "F2" button when prompted. If the system does not load the BIOS system menu, restart the computer and make another attempt. You can also try hitting the "F2" button in rapid succession when the splash screen appears.

  • Enter the correct password, if prompted. By default, the system will not ask for a password for the BIOS setup menu.

  • Examine the BIOS menu and make the necessary changes. Upon saving the changed BIOS options and exiting, the computer will reboot normally. If the computer fails to boot or "hangs" during the start-up process, reenter the BIOS menu and check the settings.
